It’s the little things that count…
Phew! What a couple of weeks it’s been, packed with hosting a dinner party, 30 person bridal shower and a graduation party all at my house. To top it off there was housework to be done, a 5-month-old puppy to take care of, working 47 hours weeks, and my boyfriend was no help as he was on a business trip for 10 days straight. I thought I’d never get all the things on my list done, let alone get in workouts to relieve the stress and to look good at all these parties! YIKES!
Ok, breath, is what I said to myself, and don’t let this busy schedule defeat you. I found exercise where I could and reminded myself “it’s the little things count.” Instead of hitting snooze, as usual (and sometimes twice), I was determined to wake up on time and just to get in a 10-15 minute walk before work. I became the master of multi-tasking; 15 minutes walking the dog plus drinking my coffee in the morning, 30 minutes walking the dog plus a little jog in the afternoons to get in my cardio, working right through my lunch break to get home earlier plus taking one 10 minute break to walk, spending time with the dog while working on the house outside plus burning calories! I only hit the gym for weights once in 7 days (normally I go at least 3 times for 30-45 minutes), but all the detailed cleaning and last minute house preparation (hanging outdoor light bulbs) put my muscles to work. And when it came down to the last event, the last day without my other half to help, I had actually lost a pound and everything turned out fabulous! Moral of the story is, our lives maybe too busy to make it to the gym, but there is always a way to be more active!
